School buildings take hard daily wear from hundreds of young users, and they must be safe, legible, and inspiring. Daylight, acoustics, and fresh air are not comfort features — they directly affect concentration and health. We design to DfE output specifications, specifying robust materials that survive the rigours of school use, and plan circulation routes that maintain clear safeguarding lines of sight throughout.
Building on occupied school sites demands a different level of discipline. We phase work around the academic calendar, maintain strict and clearly demarcated separation between the construction zone and the school, and brief every trade on the site rules before they step on site. Construction noise is monitored and managed so that it does not disrupt teaching.

Working on Live Sites
Construction on an occupied school is not simply a logistics challenge — it is a safeguarding obligation. Every aspect of site setup is designed to ensure that pupils, staff, and visitors are never exposed to construction activity. Hoarding is engineered to provide a robust visual and physical barrier, and access routes are planned so that deliveries never cross school circulation paths.
Noise is monitored against agreed thresholds and loud works are scheduled during non-teaching periods. We produce a term-time communication plan at project start, and hold regular briefings with the head teacher and site manager throughout. Every trade operative receives a site-specific induction covering the school environment, the safeguarding protocols, and the behaviour standards expected on site.
