Dams
Water retention structures engineered for safety and longevity.
We build and remediate dams for water supply, flood control, and power generation — designed to Reservoirs Act requirements and constructed with the rigour that high-hazard water-retaining structures demand.
Overview
What We
Build
Dam construction is among the most technically demanding disciplines in civil engineering — combining geotechnics, hydraulics, structural engineering, and materials science in structures where failure is not an option. We deliver new dams and remediation works with the design rigour and site quality management that high-hazard reservoirs require, working with statutory panel engineers throughout.
Our teams are experienced in earthfill embankment construction, concrete dam repair, spillway replacement, and instrumentation installation — supporting both new schemes and the long-term stewardship of existing reservoir assets.
Capabilities
What We Deliver
Embankment Dams
Zoned earthfill and rockfill embankments designed with impermeable cores, filter zones, and downstream drainage — engineered for stability under all reservoir loading conditions.
Concrete Dams
Gravity, arch, and buttress concrete dam construction and remediation — including joint treatment, facing repair, and foundation grouting programmes.
Spillway & Outlet Works
Gated and ungated spillways, draw-off towers, and bottom outlets — designed for the flood routing requirements and operational flexibility that each reservoir demands.
Dam Safety & Remediation
Inspection, assessment, and remediation works under the Reservoirs Act 1975 — supporting statutory inspections and implementing improvement recommendations.

Dam Safety
By The Numbers
1 in 10,000
Design Flood Standard
Large raised reservoirs sized to safely pass the 1 in 10,000-year inflow design flood with freeboard to spare.
RA75
Reservoirs Act Compliance
All works on large raised reservoirs undertaken under the supervision of a Reservoirs Act Panel Engineer.
1.3
Minimum Factor of Safety
Embankment stability analyses demonstrate minimum FoS of 1.3 under end-of-construction and long-term steady-state conditions.
10⁻⁸ m/s
Core Permeability
Clay core materials specified to achieve very low permeability, minimising seepage and protecting downstream zones.
